Cairndale Hotel & Spa named Independent Hotel of the Year

The Cairndale Hotel & Spa has been named Independent Hotel of the Year 2025, succeeding last year’s winner, Cromlix House, owned by Andy and Kim Murray.
Run by the Wallace family for over 40 years, the hotel is expanding with a new casual dining spot, The Oak. It also launched a £2 million, adults-only spa last July, later recognized as one of Britain’s top three new facilities.

The Cairndale Hotel & Spa in Dumfries emerged victorious, claiming the coveted title of Independent Hotel of the Year at the Scottish Excellence Awards in Glasgow.

Considered Scotland’s premier hospitality competition, the awards saw The Cairndale triumph over fellow finalists Killiecrankie House in Pitlochry and Old Manse of Blair in Blair Atholl.

The Cairndale at Christmas

The smell of pine hits us as soon as we step inside the Cairndale Hotel in Dumfries. The grand red-stone building on the edge of the town centre is lit up like the Christmas tree that is giving off the most glorious festive scent in the hotel’s reception area.
A sweeping staircase is bedecked in a Christmas garland, while, to one side, the bar and restaurant area is in full festive attire, inviting us to kick off our celebrations early – and we don’t need to be asked twice.

The Cairndale Hotel in Dumfries has unveiled its luxury Cairndale Spa, following a £2 million transformation of its former leisure club.
Spanning 1,300 square metres over two floors, the spa features six treatment rooms, relaxation areas, and a café. Highlights include a thermal pool with jets, steam rooms, saunas, a herbal lounge, and a private bathing suite, along with a dedicated café and juice bar for guests to enjoy.
